The battle with satan is a 24hr battle that very few people train enough for. If we trainned as hard for our spiritual fight as we would for a physical fight, we would be doing might exploits for the kingdom of God!
I've noticed that before I was saved, when I stepped into the ring to fight I was paralized by fear and could'nt fight as well as I knew that I could.
But after I got saved fear left and I became fearless so now I've actually become a better fighter!
Because God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind!
The greatest battle is our "old"selves when in the bible it says that we are new creatures in Christ Jesus!!When we are at our weakest point, that's when the Lord's strength is made perfect. 2corithians 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken;cast down, but not destroyed. Do you understand what this means?!?!?! Even though we fall and it feels like we're going to tap out,Jesus is the one giving you a way out holding your hand showing you where counter the devil!!God bless you all!!AMEN
Recently got my 7yr old son into MMA with a great Coach (Pat Castillo). He turned me on to this website. As my son has only been at the sport for a few months I try to prepare myself for the questions that may arise: How can MMA help me in the everyday battle, what does this have to do with God, and all the others that only children can hit you with. Your post has really put things into perspective and has truly helped me get my son to understand the values of both MMA and Christ in his life. Thank you so much and GOD BLESS.
I have been exploring my beliefs for sometime now, and I just love the feeling when you feel like you can't do another rep in the gym or throw another punch, that you can rely on Christ to help get you through and for that I praise him win or lose. He keeps me safe and I love everything that he has done for me and more importantly us!
When I started this MMA sport I was already saved. But when I started to get scared I asked my self. Why be sacred look what Jesus went through for us. If I could have done anything thing for him. I wanted it to be getting in a cage with someone for the first time. When I was in there between the first round she broke my noise, the ref pulled us a part. asked me if I was ok. I justed remeber looking at him, and shaking my head yes. even though I could of said I am done. I thought that min. No Brandy you are here for God. You will not stop this fight. look what he has done for you, and what he will keep on doing for you. I told the ref lets go. So, we started again. It was the best thing I have ever done in my life. even though I losted my first fight. because of getting nocked out. I am glad I fought tell I could not go no more. Ever since that fight. I have not once got hit again in the face by none off my apponinents I have fought. You have to fight against the Devil just as must in the ring as you do any where. It's hard to be a Christ like person in this sport, because there are so many people that puch you away once they know you are a Christ feeled person. So, you have to stay strong with God.
If you keep fighting for God you will see huge results in many area,s, myself and Ken did interviews for the 700 club, at the time non Christians involved with us and our promotion were about to have fits, the results and the blessing we have behind it are paying off to this day and we did the interviews over 2 years ago, the 3 best fighters we have in the gym all came behind those interviews and one of our big name fighters rededicated himself to the Lord and is now a licensened minister thru the assemblies of God all behind doing the 700 club for the Lord, God has shown me and others involved with the Lions Den that He will be saving hundreds of thousands of people thru MMA and you ,I believe are part of this plan, hang in there and keep fighting we aint seen nuthin yet--God Bless
Our martial arts training in mind, body, and spirit is a life-long endeavor. Romans 7:23-25 leads us to understand how we are both sinner and saint at the same time. Our righteousness is achieved by Christ and we take hold of that, but at the same time we battle with our sinful flesh every day. Therefore, our sanctification (living a right life) and spiritual health is a constant battle - just as remaining physically or mentally healthy and strong is a life-long work in progress.
