David Garcia

My name is Tim Buckley. I am a friend of David's brother, Rafael. I was not privelaged enough to have known David, but I have been fortunate enough to hear his story. It touches me deeply. I am not lucky enough to have been blessed with the gift of faith, but I will say this......Rafael and his story at the very least, led me to give some thought to the idea of God and what we are blessed with by him. Rafael is one of the most gentle souls I have ever been aquainted with, and more importantly, he has never made me feel uncomfortable or inferior to him because of my beliefs, or lack thereof. He and his family make me believe that there is something bigger than us, and in death, David has proven that. He lives on through the continued love that his family shares with others, specifically children. 'David Garcia Day' is their way of continuing his love. I am a white man, but I grew up near a reservation and have a great deal of respect for their culture, a culture that if lost, would be an American tragedy. It is true that Native American's suffer from negative stereotypes (no thanks to my people), but storys like David's represent the true and wonderful people that Natives really are. His family is active in combining Christianity and Native American beliefs into a wonderful positive message that they share with many people. Rafael works at a treatment facility for juveniles and offers a great deal of hope to children that need it far more than anyone reading this. My intentions of writing this are to reach out to any one and everyone that has something to contribute to 'David Garcia Day'. MMA fighters, send autographs, t-shirts, anything you can think of that could be given to the community's children or sold at a silent auction during David's celebration. The rest of you, give anything you can money, prayer, supportive messages on this site..........anything that may help. This message was written only in support for this cause and I wrote this without even telling Rafael, so rest assured I take no personal gain in anything donated, as a matter of fact I can't even tell you how to send donations to him.
