Luke 6:47-48
"I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built."
SUMMARY: Learn the foundation for soul-defense. Start here if you are new or want to brush up on the basics.
So you’re new to soul-defense, or want to review the foundation. What should you learn to protect yourself?
The following are the categories of basic soul-defense skills you should learn:
Awareness and preparation
Responding to spiritual violence
Empty-hand techniques
Weapons and tools
Awareness and Avoidance
100% of soul-defense is spiritual.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). The foundation of soul-defense is to become aware of who you are in Christ Jesus.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
Mentally prepare for possible situations by discussing and visualizing what you would do when in typical scenarios and those in the scriptures by a method called
mindsetting.
Understand how you can overcome fear when attacked.
"Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength” (Daniel 10:19).
The ultimate outcome of survival depends on your position in Christ Jesus. This will give you an Anointed Fighter mindset.
Responding to Violence
Spiritual Crime and violence occurs where you spend most of you time. Likely you will be in familiar surroundings that are typical crime scenes. Sometimes spiritual violence happens when the evil one works through people who are close to us. Such was the case with Jesus in the gospels.
"But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table" (Luke 22:21).
Spiritual Criminals often
"test" their potential victims to see if they are an easy mark, by using a number of attackers or temptations. In Christ, we have the power to knock out temptation when it comes.
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Immediately after you realize you are in a dangerous situation, forcefully resist by using your authority in Jesus Christ.
"He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness" ( Matthew 10:1).
Empty-Hand Techniques
Most typically think of soul-defense as various religious techniques. Keep it simple and understand what’s more important than a specific religous technique is the persons faith in Jesus Christ.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
To get scripture techniques in your memory though, so that you can automatically use them in a real world situation, you need to pray and practice regularly.
Remember, it is called a fight for a reason. However, we fight from victory not for victory. Keep Fighting.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for protecting me through the blood of Jesus. May your perfect will be done. Amen
