I had travel from Iowa to Arizona to visit my mother. While there I took a job working one of the casinos near her home. They had an opening in their filter department. After talking to the supervisor, who it seemed we related well together, I was hired. God is able to provide all our needs through his riches in glory in Christ Jesus our Lord. For all the other jobs I was interested in required experience or to pay for different licenses. Which I did not have the money or experience for. After working there for a few weeks I was favored by the supervisor for we both believed in Jesus as our Lord and Savoir. The work was good in which I got to go all over the casino and change filters in all the air handling units. I met and got to know many of the people that worked there. I noticed by the grace of God that there was at least one person in each of the different departments that had faith in Jesus. As I talked to one such man who worked giving out change to people. That God had made sure that no one had an excuse, which they had no one they could ask, about how to come to Him. Or how they could be sure they were going to heaven.
Once every two weeks two of us who worked with filters would need to come in early to change filters in an area where the customers would later that day be to many around. So we would come in at six o’clock in the morning to try to complete the job early. On one such occasion the boss wanted three of us to come in to work above the antique cars in the show room. It was unusual, but I assumed the supervisor knew how many people would be needed. The other man, who was asked to come in, even tried to talk the boss out of the need to have three of us come in. But He remain determined that all three of us would be required.
The next morning all three of us showed up at about six O’clock in the morning. The other employee, named Steve, had a look on his face that clearly expressed his continued belief that I would not be needed. With the supervisor equally determined that all of us would be required. I was still willing to do whatever I could, but uncertain who would prove to be more correct about my usefulness. As we started gathering the tools and materials to do the job I found out it was going to require a twenty five-foot fold out ladder. Which was definitely a two-person job to carry it through the Casino, and in the car show room. Seeing as how the supervisor had some physical problems with his knees, maybe this was why he wanted me there.
After arriving in the Car Show room, and setting up the tall ladder under this large air handling unit. Steve made it clear that he was out to prove that he would be handling most of the work to be done. For he quickly scurried up the ladder to start removing the filters to be replaced. While the supervisor, I shall call him Bob held the ladder. This left me standing there with nothing to do, so I moved to at least put my hands on the ladder. But it became quickly evident my assistance to sturdy the ladder, was really unnecessary. As I stood there getting a little irritated at my having to get-up early, to do what seem like really no useful purpose. I turned to the Lord to ask Him to show me why I was there. It did not seem like I got an answer right away, but did receive some peace. So I decide not my will but thy will be done, and continue to wait on the Lord to see what purpose developed. We did have three security officers that came along with; it seemed that they had nothing better to do than watch our aerial operation. Steve did a fine job of taking out the old dusty filters, and replacing them. Soon the job was finished, and we all started gathering up the tools. This time Steve and Bob decide to carry back the ladder, I think Bob was trying to prove that it was not too much for him. This left me with the job of carrying the remaining hand tools. As they headed down the wide roped off walkway between the antique cars. I noticed a power drill that had been missed, leaning against columns that support the roof. Of course it had to be on the other side of the ropes. As I went to get it, my back foot caught on the rope, as I was stepping over it.
Bob let out a surprised exclamation that sounded like,” What the,” and then stopped suddenly in mid sentence. As I turned to look I saw all five or six heavy support poles,( that held up the thick dividing rope), falling toward the expensive antique cars. But at the end this sixty foot falling rope and poles, was what appeared to be a man, who was smiling at me. It was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. It wasnt a smile of wanting anything, but of giving. I felt such peace and the joy of the Lord fill me. Then He slowly reached out His right hand from His side to the top of the pole nearest Him. In no hurry as if He had all the time in the world, as the pole was falling. When His hand was above the pole, all the poles in that row stopped, with the ten foot of rope in-between each of them. Then as He brought His hand back to His side all the poles moved upright in exact synchronization with the one He was moving. It was one of the most wonderful things I have been a witness too. Which it was not humanly possible to have done this, with flexible rope between each pole. But with God all things are possible! Praise God for saving me from this calamity! I then turn to look down to grab the drill I had initially started to reach for, I picked it up. When I looked back the angel was gone, even though it only took a few second to get the drill and look again. The nearest exit was approximately seventy feet away from him. As I think about it now I noticed that Bob and Steve must have stopped walking and no one seemed to see or notice the angel there. Even Bob’s memory of the poles starting to fall, seemed to be gone for He never mentioned it. They both went on like nothing had happen, as did the three security guards. But I was a witness of the faithfulness of God to deliver me, the One Who is a ever present help in times of trouble. Who is never late, But right on time!
